Summer is approaching quickly and I am always on the hunt for the best sunscreen for my little lady to use. Along with swimming almost everyday, lake visits, splash pad play, we also try to go to the beach once a year and keeping her skin soft and burn-free is extremely important to me. A couple of years ago I would have just grabbed whatever sunscreen was cheapest on the shelf but I am really trying to be more conscientious of what I put on our bodies. I really love the THINK DIRTY APP. Using this app, you can scan your sunscreen, lotion, bug spray, etc to see how safe they actually are. The majority of sunscreens that you find at your local grocery or drug store are usually full of questionable ingredients and known carcinogens. I am not saying that I won’t use whatever is offered if I have forgotten to apply but I do try and use what is best for both her and me.  Below is a list of the best, safest and most pure sunscreens on the market for kids:

My best girl, Jenny and I put together a mint and coral gender reveal for my sister who is pregnant with baby number 4! My sister, Veronica decided that since this is her last child, she wanted to find out as a family what gender the baby was going to be. Jenny and I put our heads together over lunch and voila! a party was born! We decided we wanted to go with the colors coral and mint instead of the traditional pink and blue. We only had a couple weeks to plan but I think we hit it out of the park! Veronica and her family were thrilled and I am so glad we got to help celebrate with them!

In October my sweet niece turned 2 years old. My sister, Veronica and I went all out for her first birthday so this year she wanted to keep it pretty simple and sweet with a donut themed birthday party for family and a handful of close friends. We threw this party together in just a few short days but it turned out adorable! This party proves you don’t have to spend a lot of money on an event to make it special!

Last year my youngest sister turned 21. As a surprise, my oldest sister, Veronica and I decided we wanted to pack her a ’21st birthday survival kit’ for the night of her birthday and also for the morning after. I shopped around for funny little trinkets and gifts to fill these boxes up and then we hot-glued little notes to each present to explain what each function the specific gifts had. It was super easy and inexpensive, we used travel size items for most of the gifts!

With the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it’s easy to forget to show our appreciation to service workers around town; the garbage men, the Salvation Army bell workers, the postman, etc. I am not sure about you but with Amazon Prime and other online shopping, we see our mailman a lot around the holidays. Every year I like to surprise him/her with a small treat as a token of appreciation. I not only think it’s a nice thing to do but it is also teaching my daughter that it’s kind to do unexpected things for not only friends and teachers but for people who you barely know, too.
