Elf on the Shelf Breakfast

Do you Elf on the Shelf? Last year, my sister, Veronica and I decided to throw a surprise, super easy, Elf on the Shelf breakfast for our girls and their elves, Sammy and Poppy. I knew my daughter and I were going to have a sleepover at her house, so I secretly grabbed our elf and put her in the bag so she would be at my sister’s in the morning. After the girls fell asleep for the evening we set-out to create magic

That evening, after the girls were in bed, we made spaghetti and dyed it green with food coloring, washed and cut the tops off of the strawberries, made pancakes and did all the prep work for the next morning. It was super easy and we used what we had on hand: red plates, mint cake stands, Santa mugs, and some Christmas decor. We decided to stack the cake stands and put the elves on the top so that the girls would not be tempted to touch the elves. (FYI: the preparation (including cooking) took about 30 minutes, it was super easy and quick!)

We both set our alarms for the next morning, put the food on the plates before the girls got up and then watched the magic unfold. The Santa pancakes and powered donuts were on the plates, strawberries and bananas were placed on the cake stands (they are supposed to look like Santa hats), sprinkles in a small dish, green spaghetti in a small bowl, hot cocoa in the mugs and milk in a glass jar with a paper straw. When the girls walked out and saw their breakfast they both squealed… to say they loved it is an understatement, they both talked about it all day. It was super easy to create this memory and I am sure that we will continue this tradition for many years to come!
