Nothing says “HELLO SPRING and SUMMER” like a Mexican Fruit Cocktail. Finally, all my favorite fruits are back in season and ready for the pickin’.
Each summer when I was a young girl we would visit my grandparents in Chihuahua City, Chihuahua, Mexico. There were several items on our “Must Do List” each year including indulging in a Mexican Fruit Cocktail.
Eight years went by without a visit to Mexico, but I recently was able to go back with my Mom to celebrate her birthday. Of course, I made a stop at the very first Fruit Cocktail Stand we spotted. The fruit was GORGEOUS and smelled so DELICIOUS! My order — a little bit of everything. My Moms — Mango ONLY.
It wasn’t until this trip that I realized I could make these at home. Super easy and just as tasty!
I picked up all my favorite Fruit Cocktail picks from my local Sprouts. They include cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple, mango, cucumber and limes. Other Mexican favorites include jicama and cactus.
Begin by chopping all your fruit into small chunks.
Next, begin layering your fruit in a cup. I like to use clear so I can see all the beautiful colors.
You are almost there…
Finally, finish with a squeeze of lime (I would suggest using 1/2 of a lime) and top it off with Tajin Clasico. This is a seasoning you can find in the Mexican or spice section of your grocery store. It is a mix of Mexican chilies, lime juice and sea salt. I PROMISE, you will LOVE it!
Now you are ready to ENJOY!
- Tajin Clasico
- Cut fruit into small chunks.
- Rearrange and stack in a cup or glass.
- Squeeze ½ a lime over fruit.
- Sprinkle with Tajin Clasico.
