Tips and Tricks to a Summer Ready Car

My friends are going to get a good laugh out of this post coming from me. Let me tell you, my car is a total pit 95% of the time, but I can’t imagine what it would look like if didn’t have a few tricks and tips up my sleeve for a summer ready car. Most of these tips and tricks can be implemented throughout the entire year or switched out per season, but they are a complete lifesaver for me and my family.

I’ll begin from front to back of my “mama mini” named, the FUN BUS! With all these girls, we have lots of needs and wants and while living in the country, we drive A LOT! I always have to be prepared.

In the front, I keep a roll of paper towels, a package of baby wipes, a small container of pens, scissors, wrapped silverware, wrapped straws because you never know when the drive-thru will forget these important necessities. I also keep a stack of small snack cups for passing out snacks or dividing up a lunch between the children. My favorite tip is to buy a Chik-Fil-A chicken sandwich meal; split the fries and cut up the chicken from inside the sandwich between the three kiddos! It creates a meal for each of them, and they are all fed for $6!

I keep a bottle of sunscreen, bug spray, hand sanitizer / “magic soap”, and a sample size of baby soap. The soap seems silly, but I have had to bathe my kids in restaurant bathrooms a few times, for various reasons.

In the back, I have weatherproof mats that are fabulous! Every mother needs them in their car. I keep a small trashcan lined with a sack to eliminate trash everywhere, and I dump it each evening.

During the summer months, I keep a small box/bin filled with summer ready items. I have a swimsuit for each kiddo, flip flops, a couple beach towels, floaties for the babe, a few water toys and sunscreen. There are times we are out and want to make a quick stop at the splash pad or a friend calls to meet for swim, so I am always prepared! I never have to worry about driving home to get anything because it is conveniently ready to go in my summer ready car!
